UV protection water repellent coating for wood — NanoSkin Wood UV+

NanoSkin Wood UV+ is a transparent, water-based nano-coating that combines the water repellency of NanoSkin Wood with enhanced protection against UV discolouration. In Nanoskin's internal accelerated UV test (40 W UVA 340 nm lamp, around 150 hours on spruce), surfaces treated with UV+ darkened far less than untreated timber, and also less than samples treated with a popular pigmented UV-blocking stain. Because UV+ is colourless, it does not pre-tint the timber the way pigmented stains do, the wood keeps its original look at the start and ages more slowly under UV exposure. Ideal for outdoor cladding, chalets, gates and exposed timber facades.

• Breathable, allows the timber to age naturally; does not peel or flake

• Coverage: roughly 12 to 14 m² per litre, single coat
• Apply by HVLP spray gun (4 bar, 0.7 to 1.0 mm nozzle); shake before use, do not dilute
• Apply at 10 to 30 °C and below 85% relative humidity, on clean dry timber; sanding may be required
• Cures at room temperature in around 24 hours before water contact
• Clean tools with demineralised water after use
• Shelf life: at least 24 months in sealed packaging, stored dry and frost-free between 5 and 30 °C
• Note: not suitable for already water repellent timber; some species (e.g. merbau, oak) can bleed or discolour, test a small area first. Some natural darkening will still occur, full prevention of UV ageing is not possible without altering the wood colour
